painting baseboards in carpeted room

Do the baseboards need to be removed and then nailed back down?  We want to have painters come and I'm just trying to get a sense of how much work is involved?

Re: painting baseboards in carpeted room

  • When I paint them I use a long putty knife looking thing to push the carpet down and just make sure the baseboards are not gloppy with paint before I let carpet back up.

  • I'm also one to use a long putty knife.  Trying to remove the baseboards is a lot of work and puts them at risk for damage.
  • Same as above, I used a wide putty knife, and sparingly brushed the paint. Much better and you can't see any paint that does happen to get on the carpet.
