Oakland ladies-Hello Bistro
Has anyone been? (it's the new place on Forbes) I went with some coworkers on Friday, it was great! They had some Eat n Park items (like the $5 superburger and smiley cookies), but I got the salad bar. For $7 you get this huge bowl with unlimited toppings...they had over 40 toppings to choose from! if you sign up for their email club, you can get a $2 off coupon to use.
Re: Oakland ladies-Hello Bistro
I haven't been, but I'm glad to hear its good! It's always nice to have another option:)
Glad to hear your review. I saw that a few weeks ago and wondered what it would be.
Have you tried the Porch yet? I've been wanting to head down on a weekend and try it out but haven't had a chance yet. If you've tried, what did you think?
Honestly, I think the Porch is overpriced. I went once and that was enough for me. My burger was good, but I could get the same quality burger elsewhere, and not pay $12.

Hello Bistro is stand and order, BUT at least it's much more reasonably priced. And I felt like the staff was much friendlier.

I totally thought the porch was sit down...okay, in that case it may not be worth a special visit to Oakland.
I think next time I make it down that way we do a Hello Bistro lunch :-)
The porch is sit down for dinner, but not lunch.
I have been there twice and while I like it, I don't know that I love it.
I just didn't want you to be disappointed when you didn't get a toy
But, you could get a smiley cookie, which is even more exciting than a happy meal.

This is probably flame worthy - but I don't like smiley cookies.
Just kidding. I enjoy them, but I'm kind of picky about them, they have to be a soft batch. I actually prefer the mini ones they came out with not too long ago, they seem much softer.

Amber, I don't like them either. I find other E&P cookies much better. The smileys are hard and the icing has a strange taste to me.
Now, if it were the only cookie on a deserted island, I'd eat it, but there are many other cookies that I'd choose first if given the option.
It is only like that at lunch. The idea is to expidite your order- turn it out faster because people are on limited time frames for lunch breaks.

Porch is sit down at dinner- full service. The order and sit lunch is supposed to make it a faster service to fit into lunch breaks without being 'fast food'

There's metered street parking right in front of the restaurant (which might be easier this time of year with a lot of students/faculty being gone for the summer).
