Drought question

We haven't had rain since the end of May. We were watering our lawn every other day last month, but now have restrictions on watering since it's so dry in our area. I'm concerned about my hostas and hydrangeas. Should I continue watering them or are they generally drought resistant?

I would never call hydrangeas drought resistant. Hostas will be fine with once a week, and I would abandon the lawn, because lawns are a horrible waste of a scarce resource like water.

The best strategy for a drought resitant landscape is to create SHADE. Plant some big trees, some small trees, and lots of shrubs; and make the lawn as small as possible.
