Hi all! I just got married a little over a week ago and I need some easy dinner recipes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Re: Beginner cook
Hi Erica, and welcome!
You're lucky in that you got married and are learning to cook during the summer months. "Easy" for me is firing up the grill and grilling chicken/steaks/brats/whatever for dinner. If those are well-seasoned, you can pair it with a simple salad and you have a great summer meal.
Do you have a crock pot? Those are also good for summertime and learning to cook.
My husband has a Betty Crocker cookbook that he likes to pull out, and those recipes are all so easy to follow.
Hello! Congratulations on your marriage! I agree that the Betty Crocker cookbook is a good place to start. Blogs are great for inspiration too. Here's one of my favorite blogs:
Prevention RD
And here's my blog: Adventures of Mini Martha
Learning to expand your skills and types of recipes you make is fun. My best advice: always have a back-up plan in case a recipe is a flop. In my house, that means there is always cereal and frozen pizzas on hand!
The crockpot is a great idea, too. I love mine. Nothing better than coming home from work with dinner waiting for you!
I haven't tried this yet but thought it sounded really good:
Crockpot Asian Pork
I've made this several times: Crockpot Sausage, Onions, & Peppers
This is a really good side to go with burgers, chicken, etc. since it sounds like you guys like grilling:
3 Bean Salad w/Grilled Corn & Avocado (I omitted the pinto beans and cilantro because I don't like them, and it was still very good).
Congratulations
My husband and I lived together for 4 years before we married, he got plenty of "practice food" lol. I started with basics and gradually I came to love cooking. My mom bought me the Better Homes and Gardens humongous cookbook when I moved out but I don't think i've ever cracked it. Cooking is about having fun and experimenting.
I love Allrecipes.com because you can read others reviews and suggestions, that's where I suggest you should start. Just pick an ingredient you both like: Chicken breast and search recipes that contain that.
