Are these really "magic"?

I am doing some shopping and finally remembered I wanted to try these. Wondering if they actually work? And if so, what is in them? Is it just the material that does the cleaning? Thanks!

I don't know what makes them work, but my cousin swears by them. She would buy them in extreme bulk if she could.

I used a similar product years ago to clean white walls that had crayon marks on them. It removed the crayon and also the paint (the color underneath was peach)

  • They work great for certain things...especially soap scum, tub ring, and getting crayon off of walls and tv screens.  Be careful using them and don't let children use them.  They are very abrasive on the skin.  Here is a little something about them that I had seen in the past that was interesting.  Not really proven one way or the other.
  • They are great for cleaning any textured surface. I clean my shower tub and the appliances with some textured white plastic with them. Also have cleaned a cooler and plastic deck chairs. I have never experienced the chemical burn nor the "roughness" from them. Of note, you don't need to use any chemicals with them for cleaning, just rinse them in water and use a little elbow grease.
  • Yikes! Those pics are awful. I found this article on snopes.

  • I swear by them. I've been able to clean rust off of the metal sink in the garage and the sink looked brand new. If you're interested in them, just buy melamine foam off of amazon. You can buy a ton more cheaper than using the mr clean brand. It's the same thing.

  • Not sure whats in them but I love them for cleaning. They are great at removing soap scum and grease, I keep them handy in the kitchen for cleaning the fridge handles, and around the stove. I even keep one handy our glass shower and clean the shower quickly every couple days when I'm letting my hair condition. I've never had an issue with them bothering my hands, but if your worried use gloves. I wouldnt mix them with other cleaners either as you shouldnt mix cleaning solutions

  • Love love love love these for cleaning soap scum! Waaaay easier then trying to find a product that works and a scrubbing forever, makes cleaning the tub way easier...thats all I use them for though, I got the kitchen ones, but they dont seem to any better then a cloth and cleaner, so Id rather use a green cleaner for the kitchen. But for the bath....a must!
  • They don't cause chemical burns. They cause abrasive burns.  They don't contain chemicals.  I found out the hard way after I thought magic eraser would be a great way to get sharpie off my arm:(  DH looked up the msds on them to figure out what kind of burn I had.  I still have a scar 3 months later.

I still love them, esp for the tub wall and door fingerprints, but I don't let the kids use them.

  • I haven?t experienced any burns yet despite of using them several times. But wasn?t aware it contained chemical that causes some type of burning or is harmful for kids. Thanks for the info.

  • I swear by them...use them on EVERYTHING!!!  Never got any burns from them.
  • They will take paint off the walls, I would think there is a paint thinner in them.
  • I love Mr Clean Magic Erasers! They do not contain chemicals so they cannot cause a chemical burn. I especially love them to clean my white computer keyboard. Black keyboards don't show the dirt but if you've ever seen how fast and how dirty a white computer gets you'll be cleaning your black more frequently! I love this product and always keep a box on hand because it comes in handy for so many things.
