Hi Ladies, I recently found this board so I'm new here! I'm interested in signing up for Birchbox but wanted to get your opinions on it first. Is it worth the $? Do you get good trial size stuff? Just trying to figure out if it's worth it. Thanks!

Re: Birchbox
I haven't tried Birchbox because the reviews I read are pretty down on it-it seems to be pretty hit or miss. Small sample size and totally random inclusions like stationary.
I recently signed up for Sample Society and am stoked about it. It is all deluxe size samples; 5 samples every month for $15. Down side is that it's high high end stuff sometimes. This month includes a face cream that is $250 full size! I hope I don't love it. But if you shop at Beauty Bar it could be good for the coupons.
My mom gets Beauty Test Tube and likes it, but I notice lots of repeats. Which isn't all bad when she gives them to me! That is a mixture of teeny tiny samples to good travel size to full size. But it's also $50. She's given me fullsize Mally eye shadow and Tarte lipsticks because they were dups but she preferred the other colors.
ETA: Test tube is $30 not $50!
I also second Sample Society! LOVE the sizes of the samples, their customer service, and the $15 coupon.
I tried Birchbox for a couple of months, and wasn't impressed with their sample sizes or their "lifestyle" items (granola bars, tea bags, etc.).
Sample Society is $5 more, but I feel like it's totally worth it.
I actually really love Birchbox. I've found quite a few products through them that I use on a regular basis now. I don't think I would have ever tried them otherwise. I also really like their point system. The points tend to add up rather quickly and certainly help offset the cost of some products.
Sure, there are some random items in the boxes, but I find overall it's worth the $10 a month.
