I am a novice gardener (as well as novice parent haha) so I guess what I am saying is - under what circumstances would they be ok? I have tried to keep the garden "organic" but hubs was not always on board. Hoping to try zucchini as baby's 1st ever veggie puree tonight as my zukes are exploding this week! I know that in cases where baby is eating the skin, organic is better.
As far as products this year, I have used Miracle Gro recently (doesn't say organic on it), a while back we did 1 treatment of an organicide which does claim to be organic, and DH used some powder fertilizer a few weeks ago against my will which also claims to be organic. Other than that, just water and sunlight
Furthermore, may I just add that it is embarassing that as a science teacher I do not know the answers to these questions. TIA!
Re: Are my garden veggies ok for baby?
Honestly, if you have concerns about chemicals, I'd ask your pediatrician.
I don't put anything chemical in my veggie garden so I'm not sure. I do use chemicals on other parts of the property, but without knowing for sure, I don't want to mess with it.
Do you add compost to your garden? I usually just have compost, crushed egg shells around the base of some plants (anti-slug, etc) and I start adding coffee grounds when the tomatoes start producing. Also, vinegar does a half-decent job of killing weeds. It's nothing like RoundUp, but it's edible.
