If you have installed wainscoting, please come in!

I am not usually on this board but I was hoping one of you could possibly help me with a wainscoting installation problem.

We're installing beadboard wainscoting in our guest bath.  We have hung all of the paneling but we are stuck at what should be the next step.  We still need to put the baseboad molding back on, as well as the top chair rail piece, and the pieces for the inside and outside corners (I guess this is called corner trim).

We're stuck because we cannot figure out how to make the corner trim fit flush with the chair rail piece and baseboard molding.  We need these corner trim pieces on the inside and outside corners of the room to cover the raw cut edges of the beadboard in the corners of the wall. We know that the baseboard needs to align at a 45 degree angle, but we just can't figure out how the corner trim pieces fit.

We've tried googling, but no luck.

Thanks in advance!

  • We installed wainscoting in my SD's bedroom but we didn't use corner pieces...we just caulked in the corners to make a nice straight line where the wainscoting butts up against one another in the corners. I am pretty nitpicky and I think it looks fine....

We did the same thing when we put wainscotting in DS's (which is now dd's) nursery. I think it looks good and I'm the kind of person that would get annoyed everytime I looked at it if it didn't look right.
