Say Anything Friday

What's on your mind today?

Re: Say Anything Friday

    • I'm really excited to have a day off when DH will be out of the house.
    • I really want to go grocery shopping tonight but I'm afraid to b/c last Friday night when I went grocery shopping, the power went out for almost 5 days so it was like throwing money down the drain.
    • I made homemade chipwiches this morning and I cannot wait to try them tonight.
  • I've officially boycotted all Italian restaurants in Annapolis except for Olive Garden due to their jerky GMs or owners or general difficulty to work with for the magazine. OK, not all, I think there's still one downtown restaurants I can eat at without supporting the jerks.

  • I really cannot STAND people who post pictures on FB where there kids lives are potentially in danger.  A FB friend posted a picture of her daughter in her car seat no wearing the shoulder straps (they were down around her waist) while they were driving.  I just PRAY they drive safely and nothing happens.  I really don't want to be a preachy judgey mom and say something but I am thinking I may.

  • Weeks ago I had tentatively asked my parents if they were free tomorrow for me and DS to come hang out for the day giving DH the "free day" he wanted as a Father's Day gift. But I never mentioned it to DH. Then he ended up going golfing and out to lunch on FDay and had most of the day "free". He was thanking me profusely for his free day, so I scrapped today. Then my mom emails this morning and asks if we're still coming over and I said no because I just don't feel like it. I kind of feel bad.

I'm starting to stress about DH's business trip later this month. He will be gone for 7 days. It will be the longest we've been apart in 5+ years and the longest I've been on my own with DS. I'm kind of annoyed because this trip was only supposed to be 3 days, then suddenly it was 7. I am looking forward to some free time in the evenings, and I love DS to bits obviously, but I hope I don't lose my mind. I'm trying to think of activities to plan.

I hate this weather. I am hypersensitive to hot weather. DS wanted to go outside last weekend and DH took him out and I couldn't even stand to go with them.

And a random FFC: I gave DS some expired yogurt last weekend. I didn't realize until the next day. He seemed fine, but I felt guilty and didn't tell DH.

  • I'm a little disappointed DH wasn't more excited about my raise.  Since he took a job w/ the govt, I make more than him and I get that its a blow to his self-esteem as a husband/provider, etc. but it was a big deal and he could have sucked it up a bit more.  He congratulated me, but a little enthusiasm would have been nice instead of a sarcastic "can I quit now?"  Him working for the govt is better for us, even if there was a paycut, which he knows intellectually.  bleh

I'm excited but slightly dreading the party planning w/ my sister for my parents anniversary.  As my mom says, she has a Rolls Royce dreams, but Honda budget.  And, its actually my budget since she's told me she can't afford to do much.  She can be very bossy and manipulative (as only a sibling can be. .. ) so I hope we can work together.

  • I know that I'm being nit-picky, but I'm going to shake my husband if he doesn't get "how laundry should be done 101" through his head.

He has seriously ramped up how much he does around the house lately in response to me being a fat and bumbling pregnant woman, and oh my GOD do I appreciate it. He's always helpful and does his fair share, but he's done more-than to help me take it easy more often. One of the things he's been doing more of is the laundry since it requires going up and down the stairs so often.

The problem is that he doesn't sort anything. He throws darks, whites, brights, and towels all together willy-nilly. I separate based upon the colors of the clothes, and I wash all towels and sheets on hot, so as soon as I take a basket of dirty stuff down, I immediately sort it. He doesn't. No matter how many times I ask. He seems to grasp it when I explain it to him, but he can't put it into practice.

I feel like a biyatch who should shut up and be grateful that he's doing it, but fat-girl clothes are expensive and I hate shopping, so I don't want my $40 top ruined because he tossed it in with his dark-wash jeans!

  • I feel like crap and I just want to feel better.  My options in medication are severely limited because I'm still nursing Faith and it stinks.

Something is wrong with our computer-it won't let me download my books to my e-reader. I hope we can find out the problem soon because I bought two new books and I'm anxious to read them.

I must admit that I never sort laundry. Well, I sort by person (me, DH, or DS) and wash everything in cold water and dry on low. Except I will occasionally do a load of DH's shirts and socks in warm water with bleach (but bleach scares me).

But I do sympathize about DH having some kind of block about laundry. My DH doesn't do laundry anymore, but when he did, I would occasionally find bras and swim suits in the dryer - yikes. I know he was trying to be helpful, but damn.

Can you get two laundry baskets (or hampers, whatever you use) and when the dirty clothes come off the body they are placed into the "dark basket" or the "light basket."  That's what we do, so if DH ever decides to do laundry, he's not messing anything up (he'll leave the drying part to me).

Now I'm sure it's a little different with your DD and where her dirty clothes goes.  But if you are able to implement the 2 baskets, she might enjoy the sorting process too!

Sheets and towels go immediately into our laundry room when they're dirty.  I don't mix the clothes with them for sake of sanity on my part.

I have thought of that! I'm not sure if we have the space for two laundry baskets, which is what we use right now, but I know that there are taller/slimmer hampers that are built for separating as you take off your clothes and put them in the dirty pile. We may have to invest in one of those so that I'm no longer nagging. Thanks Jadey!

I didn't used to sort laundry, either. My Mom never did it and I never saw/felt a need to do it - more work for no reason! But then E started wearing these really dark wash jeans that bleed blue forEVER. I can't stand when my white socks start to get dingy, and having them light blue drove me batty - not to mention all of M's lighter clothes that were getting ruined. So that's when I started separating.
