Crooked baby teeth question

It's a given that my kids will need braces someday, since DH and I both did. However, DD's upper incisors (not the center ones, the ones next to them) have both come in crooked. They don't line up flush with her central incisors, but they are slightly perpendicular to them. I'm also noticing that her lower gums really don't have much space for her canines to come in, which they are trying to do. I plan to ask the pedi about it at her 15 month checkup (not til 8/20...yay busy doctors, I guess?) but I thought I'd ask here too. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks ladies, and have a great weekend!

Re: Crooked baby teeth question

  • DD's teeth are a bit crooked. We've already been to the dentist twice. She got teeth early (4 months), so we went around 15 months, I think. The dentist said he saw some crowding and said we should start saving for braces. Didn't surprise me because DH and I both needed braces.

She recently slammed her face into our headboard and broke the bone above her front teeth, making them even more crooked so we went to the dentist again (awesome, right?) and he said it may or may not have impacted the adult tooth but we can still expect lots of crowding and crookedness and the need for braces.

     So... yeah... you're not alone.

  • Aw, man. Thanks for the input, I sort of figured she'd need braces (she has my small mouth and big teeth). Bummer. Hope your DD is doing alright, that's gotta hurt!
