Mainely

So, couple more months. How is everything going?

Re: Mainely

  • I waffle between "I can't believe I'm going to have another kid in only 2 months!" and "I feel like I've been pregnant forever, let's get this over with!" It's weird to think that Helen was born just over 6 weeks from where I am now.

Helen's big girl room is slowly taking shape. Painting is done; bookcase, bed, and nightstand are in the room now. The new dresser and chest are still in the garage and the sofa bed is still in the room, awaiting DH to find someone to help carry them to their respective new homes. I could probably help carry the dresser and chest, but that sofa bed is a heavy bugger...I couldn't help lift it when I wasn't pregnant!

The baby's nursery (Helen's current room) is on hold until her new room gets done. The new crib is in a box in the garage. The changing table and pretty much all the other baby gear are in the attic. My parents are coming in three weeks, so I'm planning on them (or at least my mom) to help get the rooms all done, the baby clothes washed and put away, the old stuff from the attic cleaned and reassembled, etc.

The basement playroom has had zero work done on it. I still don't have all the junk cleaned out to get contractors in to get quotes for the work. Ugh. I have no idea when that's going to get done. It is amusing, though, that 80% of Helen's toys have been boxed up and stored in the garage and she (1) still manages to entertain herself perfectly fine and (2) still manages to leave toys laying all over the house!

Physically, I'm perfectly normal. I can't stand the heat, sleep badly, pee all the time, and my back hurts. Weight gain has been within where my doctor wants me, normal blood pressure, no GD. At my 28 week appointment I was only measuring 24 cm, so I've got a growth ultrasound scheduled for 32 weeks...but at my 30 week appointment I was measuring 30 cm! I guess kiddo was just in a really funny position at 28 weeks but I'm keeping the ultrasound appointment just because I'm curious to see him again and find out how big they think he'll be. I'd be happy with another slightly early, not gigantic baby!

  • How is Helen doing with all of the change?

Isn't it funny when you put away toys and they are totally fine? I started putting stuff in what is going to eventually be Caroline's playroom and she could care less. Everytime I feel like I make a dent in her stuff, more seems to take over the downstairs. Fun! :)

Glad to hear all is going well with you and the baby. I thought about you and Jackie during the crazy heat spike we've had the past couple of weeks. Definitely makes me reconsider my ideal "Sept" baby :) Don't even think of moving that sofa sleeper, ouch! I wont even nudge ours over if it gets out of position now. Darn things are backbreaking heavy.

Girls were on FB today talking about the nest and you. Wishing you were so stubborn and would come over and play. We have tried to get 2 GTG's going and it never happens. I told them it's because you aren't around to take control and just get the darn things scheduled :)

Oh yeah, finally quit my work from home job. Was too much and with Caroline older and needing more from me it just wasn't worth it! Blogging still keeps me busy and pays for groceries so I'm happy with that !

  • Popping in just to say "hi!" I can't believe you are due in two months. How exciting! And ditto Maeghan. Everyone misses you over on FB :)

  • I am here to say hi to you and Susie too!

Mainely, I am so excited to hear how things are going for you and coming along with your preparations!

    Susie, how are things going?

Unfortunately, my baby didn't make it.  To make matters worse, I had to to take medication to complete the miscarriage and it was during the aftermath of the derecho.  Since we didn't have power for four days and I had a delayed reaction to the medication, I was miscarrying at our friends' home, at a hotel, at work, and then finally at home when our power was restored.  It was pretty awful but my hormone levels have been plummeting and the nurses report that I may be done with blood draws on Friday.  MH and I are looking forward to when my body has recovered so that we can recuperate and start thinking about the day when we do bring a baby home.

  • Just wanted to add a hi to my fellow September mama!  Time is flying!  You sound way more prepared than we are.  We are actually heading back to NY this weekend for my shower, so I imagine once we cart all those baby things back up here, we can at least pretend we are more ready :).   I am happy you hear you are doing well physically.  The heat has been tough, but otherwise things on my end are going good, too.  I am also measuring a bit behind, but my doctor doesn't seem too concerned right now.  The whole tape measure thing seems highly inconsistent, so I am interested to see how it goes next appointment. Other than that, we start Hypnobirthing classes tonight, so I know the big day is coming up fast!

     Stay cool and be well!

Ms. B just turned 2 month old today. YIKES! Time has flown. She insanely tall and skinny as a bean, which has made clothes shopping "fun" to say the least. She's still wearing her newborn clothes, especially anything with separate tops and bottoms to accommodate her height. She's been going through a super fuss spell lately, but her doc sees nothing that would be causing it. Beyond that, she's a dream baby and I'm already negotiating for #2. Those of you who know how long I waited for #1 understand why I'm starting now even though I want to wait 3 years. LOL! Highlight of the day was breastfeeding B while getting my teeth cleaned at the dentist. It certainly made for a ton of laughs all the way around!

I am so insanely sorry that you are going through all of this. *HUGE HUGS* I hope that you heal up soon and get the clearance to try again. I can't begin to understand what it is like. My T&P are with you.

Aw, it sounds like things are going well for you.  I'm so happy for you!  Thanks for the hugs.  We'll get there.  The good news is that we can try again as soon as my period returns.  This week has been much easier than last.
