Would you talk to owner about this?
I was at a restaurant last week and the waiter wasn't paying attention and spilled soda and most of it ended up on my leather purse. I tried drying it and using leather cleaner but there is still a big dark stain on it. I talked to the manager right after it happened and he said he'd have the owner call me but so far I haven't heard anything back. If it wasn't an expensive bag I'd just shrug it off but I kinda want them to pay for it's replacement since their waiter was goofing off and ruined it. Do you think I'm being unreasonable?
Re: Would you talk to owner about this?
I would definitely call... especially since they set that precedent that the owner would call you. Don't let them give you the brush off.
That's the way it should be.
A few years ago, my husband, my ILs, and I went out to this nice mom & pop Italian restaurant a few blocks from our house... and our waitress spilled red wine all over me and my husband, ruined our pants. And then she BLAMED IT ON ME. Not only did she not apologize for spilling red wine (which should have been the first thing that she took off of her drink tray), but management never apologized, she blamed me to my face and pointed her finger in my face, and I overheard her complaining about me to her manager.
I have not been back. I'm still really angry about that encounter, and it's my husband's favorite restaurant.
I'd definitely call them...
