Kid Table and Chairs...refinishing

I bought a kids table and chairs from a garage sale.  It is solid wood and painted.  I would like to repaint but don't know all the steps as far as sanding it first and what type of paint to use that cleans well and doesn't scratch.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Kid Table and Chairs...refinishing

  • Give it an all over sanding, depending on condition I may reprime it, or just go for paint. High gloss will be more durable than flat. Can also consider clear coating it if you want to or think your paint isn't as durable (like if you use wall paint) since it will be a heavy use/contact item.

Personally I've had better luck with spray paint holding up better than wall paint. I'm about to repaint a toddler bed and am planning to use glossy spray paint or the Krylon H2O latex spraypaint if I can find it in the right color.

  • When we were repainting a hutch a few years ago SW accidentally mixed us marina/boat paint and that stuff help up like no other.  However, I think it's $$ so I'd just use high-gloss.
