Hi all--
I'm jumping over from the bump to ask about my pup, Abby. She was diagnosed with demodectic mange and is a border collie mix. My vet prescribed Advantage Multi, once every month, to hopefully treat it or help to relieve some of the symptoms. Unfortunately, she said this is certainly not 100% (or anywhere close to it) but she wanted to try this before putting her on ivermectin (sp?), since collie mixes can have sensitivity to it.
Anyone have experience with demodex? Suggestions on ways to treat it or alleviate symptoms? I feel so badly for my little buddy.
Re: Demodex?
I adopted a dog from a shelter who came with Demodex mange. I had to take him for dips once a week for 4 weeks. After the 4 weeks, he started getting his hair back and wasn't red or itchy anymore. It may also depend on how big your dog is. I have a family member who just recently adopted a dog with mange but they won't do the dips because she is small. They were told to give her medicated bathes to help relieve some of the symptoms.
