I'm just now starting to get into dresses and being girly. Living in FL it's kind of hard to wear a ton of clothes and sneakers all the time. But here's my little problem. I'm 5'1" and 110 lbs. A lot of things are really big and long on me. I also have a bum knee so heels aren't really in the picture for me and I need shoes with support for the time being. What kind of cute summer wear do you think I should look into?
Re: Summer wear
Dresses and flat sandals can be very chic. You can also do shorts and Ts with flat sandals. Take style notes from Kelly Ripa, Rachel Bilson and Reese Witherspoon, they are petite 5'2".
I like these looks:
I used to have that body! Sigh.
If I still had it, I would dress like Audrey Hepburn every.single.day.
You could get away with wearing cute flat sandals for a long time in Florida. And I agree with the dresses--it's so hard to find maxi-dresses that fit when you're short, but if you're willing to shop online, you can order petites.
Also, I tend to buy 'cropped pants' in stores and wear them as 'ankle pants'--those few inches make a big difference. And ankle pants with ballet flats are cute. You can add a billowy top for volume.
If you find a dress that you love but it's too long, just get it hemmed or if you're good with a sewing machine, hem it yourself. or wear a wedge if the dress is too long, they look cool and are easier to walk on than heels are.
