Re: WHOO OBAMA 2008!!

  • Me too. I feel hopeful. :)
    imageimage
  • I'll fourth that. I'm already planning a roadtrip to the inauguration with college roommate.

  • i too am hopeful for good things for the country...

and i am glad that the election is over....

  • I am SO glad that the election is over and hope that we will start to see a change in the economy.
  • I'm glad the elections are over, but I don't feel very good about the outcome =(. I just might move out of the country.

  • I'm also glad the elections are over.  The outcome wasn't in my favor, but I'm going to remain optimistic and see how good this is going to be for our country.

    Siggy coming soon....
  • I liked Obama a little more than McCain.  Neither were my exact cup of tea.  I trust that with checks and balances and confident leadership we'll be fine.  All these "i'll move to another country" statuses make me feel like saying "get a one way ticket hun".  Oh and the end of days comments are annoying as well.  Seriously people.

totally agree.... i didn't feel confident about either choice...but i picked the best choice based on how i feel about things... running mates actually played a huge role in my choice...

My choice was pretty firm before the VP picks, but once they were made there was NO WAY I was crossing over.

My sister in law made that comment the other day.  I wanted to slap her upside the head!

It's a joke. You know, haha funny.

I didn't like either as well. I didn't really care for Obama, but I'm glad to see that Palin isn't one step away from being prez. Overall, I think I was more apathetic about our choices than anything else.

Dude, the apocalypse thing KILLED me! Drove me nuts. I think a lot of people's discrimination against Obama set us back about 30 years. There are a lot of people who legitimately voted for who they felt would run the country best, but I have encountered SO MANY PEOPLE that made him into a villain because of his upbringing, his race, his beliefs, whatever.

I'm just pleased to know that both candidates were God-fearing men, and I know that God allowed Obama to win the ticket for a reason. TGBG.

These comments are really bothering me too. Sure, I know people are just being sarcastic, but I think it's really disrespectful and almost unpatriotic.

I understand your post was a joke, but I've got 20 statuses on facebook saying Canada, Ireland, England, Bahamas, etc and it's getting really annoying.

  • I voted for McCain/Palin, but not because Obama is black (he is actually biracial if you want to get technical), or because I think he is the Anti-Christ, which I don't think he is, but I don't know.  The thing is, nobody knows if he is or isn't, except God, and He is in control no matter who the president, vice president, speaker of the house is, etc. etc.

So here are my thoughts on the issue:

If Obama is the Anti-Christ, if this means the end of the world, if everything that others "feared" comes true, then what can we do about it? Nothing.  It's biblical that the end is coming, whether we like it or not.  When? Nobody knows!!  Will it be Obama?? I don't think so, but I can't say either way for sure because I'm not supposed to know!

I just know that several times before (in the 70s, 80s, 90s)...people came along thinking the end was coming then. For example, David Koresh, Osama bin Laden, and others that people thought were the "anti-Christ".  It's happened before and it will continue to happen until the end.

Please keep in mind that these are my opinions!

  • I meant to post on AM's post.  :P  Editing and reposting!

  • I just wish that during the campaigning, that the candidates would not be allowed to just bash each other....to me it says a lot about the character of people that we have running for various offices these days.....tell me what YOU are going to do, not what the other won't do, hasn't done, did/didn't do in the past, etc. I am glad to see an end to these annoying campaign ads, etc!
  • I'm very excited and happy.  I got emotional during Obama's  speech.  I'm a very proud American today.  I also was very impressed by John McCain's speech last night.  Unfortunately, I'm the lone Barack supporter in my work area.  It's another day of avoiding co-workers and cranking up the volume on the Ipod.

I totally agree. If people making these comments think they are funny, they're NOT! It's annoying, disrespectful, and unpatriotic!

  • no matter who is President of our country I feel (and it's my opinion and I'm neither right nor wrong b/c it's just that, MY opinion) that we need to respect who is President.  We will all still get up each day and go to our jobs, love our families, love who we worship, and live our lives, etc.  Life goes on.  It's not the end of the world if your candidate didn't win.
I think (again my opinion) it's ridiculous when people say that because their candidate didn't win they are moving out of the country.  Seriously?  no.  Because life goes on and we will do the same as we always have and live life to the fullest.  We just have to pray and respect the President because he's our leader, doesn't mean you have to like him.

Also keep in mind that the President doesn't do everything by himself, he has an administration, a cabinet, the Senate, the House, etc. who all help him everyday.  It's not a one man show.

So, I don't think it matters at this point, as of today who voted for who, etc. because we have elected our President (elect) and we have dawned on a new era.  What will happen next, we don't know yet.  That's in God's hands and we have to just pray that all those who do make the decisions for our country make the right ones for us.

I will live life the best I can today, hoping tomorrow is an even better day.

You said it! When Bush was in office for 8 years I didn't make jokes about moving to another country. I just went on with my life and prayed for the best.

  • You said it best! I totally agree with everything you said! I have noticed that when Bush was re-elected we did not hear these remarks about America! I am very dissappointed in alot of people that I am friends with on Facebook and there statuses!
  • i for one couldn't be happier! :)

Very well said, Katie.  Unfortunately, I feel like that respect is going to go completely out the window - both towards Obama, and toward people that support Obama.  I'm also seeing a multitude of Facebook statuses declaring him the Anti-Christ and mocking him as the Messiah, and I think it's really classless.  One thing I've seen in this election is that people are really failing to respect others opinions.  We're allowed to disagree - that's the beauty of this country.  It makes me sad that people aren't willing to listen to and respect other's points of views.

  • wow, luckily i haven't seen any anti-christ messages floating around.

I completely agree Katie! I always said that whoever is elected still has Congress to work with and can't make everything he wants happen - especially over night.

But, I am so excited about the historical impact this election has had on our country. I'm excited about the possibilities that this new president could bring.

I was upset last night because I had to work until midnight waiting on the late local results to come in to write a story about it and I missed all the speeches on TV. (Thankfully DH tivo'd them for me.)

But, once I did watch them I cried. Seriously, it feels good to have a candidate win that I support and believe in. It's the first time in my adult life. I just hope he doesn't disappoint us and truly does what is best for ALL the American people.

As far as Obama being the anti-christ stuff, I think that's a bunch of B.S. And I am a christian saying that.

  • I hate that people have to resort to making nasty comments when things don't go there way.  I wish people would take a step back and realize how far this country has come.  To have a black man as president is amazing.  It is just as amazing that a woman was able to run for vice president.  It represents how far our country has come.  As for people saying they will move to another country that is ridiculous!!!  What other country can you move to where you will have the freedom, choice, and opportunity you have here!
