Help me pick a nightstand please

I'm currently working on DD's big girl room. She has a white tufted bed with white DKNY chrysanthemum comforter and teal and fuschia accents. Her dresser is espresso. I can't decide if I should find a dark nightstand or not! Seems a little boring to me. I've also thought about a mirrored nightstand...target actually has a cute one for $80. Are those going to be out of style soon though? Or should I upcycle an old nightstand and paint it fuschia or something fun like that? Please help! Thanks :)

Re: Help me pick a nightstand please

  • My last choice would be a mirrored table in a kids room...smears, smudges, finger prints and then what if she breaks a mirror on it? You have glass to deal with.

Maybe I'm too practical but I'd go with the espresso piece and put on some funky bright drawer hardware. This way, when she outgrows the bright colors and decides as a teen that those colors aren't "her" anymore you won't have to go and buy a new night stand for her you can just put new drawer hardware in.

    It sounds fun and pretty!

Ohhh, I hadn't thought about glass breaking. Thank you for saying that! And that's a great idea to just change the hardware on the drawer front! Thank you so much

  • For a kids room I love the idea of a bright accent piece. Mirrored, while stylish, doesn't seem ideal for kids.

For what it's worth, I'm about to repaint a toddler bed bright pink ;)

  • If you want to just have a classic, traditional, never out of style piece I'd go with an espresso nightstand. If you want a pop of color I'd go yard saling or on craigslist, find a great deal and paint it either fuschia or teal

  • Another idea (and probably what I would do) is purchase a thrift nightstand white and add pretty teal drawer knobs/pulls.
