Weight Watchers Tips!

Ok, so my commitment to Weight Watchers the last couple months has been bouncing back and forth. I do REALLY well for a week or so, then slack off.  Even through all of my bouncing back and forth, I've managed to lose about 5 pounds.

Those of you that have had success, what are some things that you've found that keep you motivated and make the program easier?

Are there any apps you use? I use the WW app and I LOVE it! I've also downloaded an app that has nutritional info for a lot of popular restaurants, Fast Food Calculator, which isn't limited to only fast food places.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated! :)

Re: Weight Watchers Tips!

  • Congrats on your loss! Weight watchers really is the best! I have been on weight watchers since Jan 1 of this year and today have lost 25 lbs. I dont know if you are on Pinterest at all but i got so much inspiration and drive from that website and it has some yummy recipes!

I also reccommend taking a before picture and measurements!! Good luck

  • Well, congrats to you too! That is wonderful!

Pinterest has been my saving grace in basically all areas of life haha. I've found tons of inspiration from there with my journey to get healthy. Just figuring out how to stay on course now.

  • I know exactly what you mean! I set a goal for 30 lbs by the end of April, its uh now july and im still not there but still super proud. Do you go to the meetings or just do weight watchers online?

I also started doing this thing for every pound i lost i would put $5 in a jar and i didnt touch it until i was desperate and my pants were falling down! I went from a size 12 to a size 6 so needless to say i needed new pants! I also put a dollar in my jar every day i worked out! Its a nice incentive at the end the day/week/month to treat yourself to something nice. :)

  • Those are really great ideas! I might have to try them. I joined back in May and I haven't been doing too well so far. So many changes going on in life it's hard to keep track. Nice to know I'm not the only one....I'm trying to find my motivation. We should start a WW board or something to keep ourselves and each other motivated!
  • I lost 70 on WW in 2011 and have maintained since.

I made a ton of lifestyle changes, mostly for my health, which also included weight loss. So some of the things I do might seem drastic but they are right for me and what I've learned about nutrition.

I don't eat flour.  never.ever.  Not even pasta of any form. (I use spaghetti squash)  I also do not do sugar, artificial sweetners, sodas, white potatoes, white rice.  NOTHING processed, rarely anything from a factory.

I DO - eat simple and nutrient dense foods.  Fish/salmon/sardines each 1x a week.  Beef only 1x a week.  Cabbaeg/red cabbage almost daily either chopped as salad for stirfried.  EVOO from Greece.  Cinnamon from SriLanka.  Quality balsamic vinegar.  Garlic powder.  Turmeric.  I don't lose if I eat more than 3 fruits a day and 1 banana a week.  I cook dried beans and eat them almost daily.  Lots of quinoa, oatmeal, 2T gr flax seed daily.  24oz Sencha green tea daily.  Organic blueberries daily.  Eggs.  Spinach and kale are always in the frig.

I'm sure there is more.  Feel free to PM me if you want more help.

  • The $ in a jar definitely sound like a great incentive. I've been holding a few gift cards back since Christmas to buy new pants when I lose a size. I probably need to put them out in plain sight as a more constant reminder.

I definitely know what you mean about life changes and life being in the way in general. I'm learning that the more I plan ahead, the better I do. If I plan my meals for the week, it keeps me from being in a hurry and just grabbing the quickest meal.

  • I stopped doing WW a few months ago.  I didn't like the new plan very much and sadly my motivation wasn't there.  However, I did learn a few tricks from some of the meetings:

When you get home from food shopping divide up your food.   I would get pre-cut carrots and put them into baggies, put snacks into small baggies as well, etc.

I would pre-cut my food for the week and bag it inthe frig for quick dinners (broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, etc.)  I also made a huge salad for the week for lunch.  Put a coffee filter in the salad to absorb the wetness; the coffee filters in the baggies also help keep the food fresher longer.

Pull everything out of cabinets and write the points value on it.  Definitely helps to deter you if it's high.

Using the suggested amounts of foods each day helps; the 5 helpings of fruits/vegetable, etc.

Instead of paying a high price for their spoons go to a store and get the 1/4cup, 1/3 cup, 1/2 cup etc. cups on a ring.  Cheaper than buying WW.

Look up restaurant foods before going out to eat.  Write down your common restaurant (such as Dunkin Donuts) foods in your book, so you always remember the values.

I use winery glasses when having wine.  They are sample-sized glasses compared to the wine glasses you buy in a store.  I feel like I have having my fill in a smaller glass.  Also, MGD 64 isn't a bad light beer.

I hope these suggestions help.  One quick question: Does anyone have protein-rich, quick dinner meal ideas?  I am a carb-queen and can use the higher protein in my diet.  Thanks.
