Bakery Recommendations

Hi DC Area nestie here.  We are throwing my parents an anniversary party in Westwood (Bergen County) and I was looking for a bakery to order a cake from.  I don't really like Sugarflake and my mom always defaults to Carvel or Shop Rite so my knowledge in this area is a bit limited.  Any recommendations?  I would prefer a location in Northern Bergen County or southern Rockland.  In my search of weddingwire, I came across A Little Cake.  Is it as good as the reviews suggest?  The Art of Cake is booked that weekend.

I'm so addicted to A La Cupcakes in Glen Rock that I'm there at least 4x a week. She does cupcakes, cookies, cakes, etc. SHe also uses organic flour and sugar and it really makes a difference in taste. She doesn't use shortening- she uses real butter. You'd be surprised at how many bakeries use shortening instead of butter

The owner is Pam and she'll work with you on whatever you want to do. They're awesome.

  • Thank for the rec. I just talked to her husband and we are going to chat tomorrow.  Any favorite flavors there?  The cupcakes look incredible.

She makes me a special one- vanilla cake, organic raspberry preserves filling and raspberry buttercream icing. She thinks it wont sell so she just makes it for me. My husband like Raspberry Kiss which is chocolate cake with raspberry filling and chocolate icing. Our partner at work loves the chocolate beer. Our other friend loves the bacon one. I think it's choc cake, vanilla icing with bacon. Sounds gross but people love it. The red velvet is amazing and our friend's wife likes the Hostess one. Maybe you should get cupcakes instead of a cake! Or both!!
