need formal dress help
Hello girls!
My grandmother and I have been invited to my state's National Guard Presidential Reception and Ball in 2 weeks (in honor of my brother who was KIA in Afghanistan) and I have NO CLUE what to wear??? I don't want to wear a "prom" type gown and everything else I am seeing is shorter than I prefer. Can ya'll give me some insight on what I could wear to something like this? Also, I need to be able to get it in less than 2 weeks! Thanks so much!

Without more information on what the event is like, I would think that a long gown would be appropriate. Here are a few that are not prom-like. Happy to do more looking if you can give an idea of your price range, and any styles you like/don't like.

I agree w PP, I would definitely say to air on the side of formal and go w a longer gown. ITA w looking at David's Bridal. Maybe also try Cache. Even Macy's has some nice formal gowns (by Ralph Lauren, mostly)
