Okay so we'll paint the garage-
About the car thing--- he drives a civic, I drive an Elantra. We are currently a fam of 5 with us two, 15 yr old son, 8 yrl girl, 1 yr and now I am prego. Soooo- we hardly fit in these compact cars now, therefor we need a bigger car. He wants a Toyota Highlander, I am not set on anything yet. The Highlander seats us all but there is no room for a stroller in the back. I just want a car that will have room for groceries and baby gear. I am looking into the GMC Acadia because it has more room for these things but he doesn't like the shape. For me- it is more important that our family fit as well as our groceries and luggage when we go out of town.
Update-- we did talk things out and are much better. I think my hormones had me goinjg rampid.
Re: 3yr hump/ his choice of car clarification
Get something mid sized and be done with it. Find something good and used, maybe a station wagon.
So one thing you guys agree on is you don't like what the other picked out. That is when you guys move on from your choice of vehicle and find a car you both 100 percent agree on.
Glad you guys talked it out!
I read the other post and it's good you have the garage painting worked out and have a dialogue going.
You both must like the car 100%. There are more then two cars out there that would work for your family. I would certainly want a vehicle that would fit my entire family in it if we happen to all go out someplace together. Maybe you should each make a list of what you want in the new car and find ones that match both lists. You want a car that seats everyone and has room in the back. He wants a car that looks visually appealing to him. Although when it comes to looks he will have to be a little flexible as looks vary by maker.
H does not like cars with trunks and loves hatchbacks. So when we went car shopping we only looked at hatchbacks. He also had to have a car that was a standard and I insisted on cruise control, power windows, power doors and 4 doors. Then we took all the little things (for example the size of glovebox) into consideration in deciding what car to finally get. A small glovebox was not a deal breaker but a big one was a plus.
