My friend is getting married in a morning ceremony and the invite says "black tie." I asked my friend if DH should wear a tux and she said no, just a nice shirt and dress pants. It's an outdoor ceremony and she said she wants the guests to be comfortable. The "black tie" thing came from her FI. I grew up with the bride and we're not black tie kind of people, lol!
Anyway, I'm torn between trying to stick with the more formal dress requirements and going by what my friend said (normal attire for a daytime, summer wedding). Here are a couple dresses I'm considering. Thoughts? Oh, the venue is a country club, if that helps. I appreciate any input!
Not sure what color I'd choose for this one:

Edited to fix links.
Re: Help with dress for daytime black tie wedding?
Sounds like your friend doesn't know what "black tie" means, and that she actually means "cocktail attire." Black tie = tuxedos and formal gowns.
I actually like 3 & 4 the best. I love the back of 4... very different.
Thank you. Yes, I know, I'm kind of annoyed at the black tie thing. I don't think people should put it on the invite unless they mean it! And from what I read, it's not really appropriate for a day time event anyway.
I just found this one that probably fits the bill a bit better:

I agree - I think this dress is more appropriate. While I liked the dresses you selected from Kohls, they were on the verge of being too casual. Like you could wear them with flip flops and get away with it.
I'll feel bad for the guests that actually show up in a tux / long formal gown. Hopefully, people realize that even though the invite specified black tie, they actually meant standard summer wedding garb.
This one's still too casual IMO. It's just a cotton sundress with a belt. I'd wear something daytime dressy, since that's probably what they're aiming for. Maybe like this or anything from the J.Crew bridesmaids line.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
Yes, I can see the Kohl's dresses being too casual. I was just trying to find something that might work and I have a 30% off coupon burning a hole in my pocket too.
I really love the dress from The Rack, so I think I'll go with that one. It will be interesting to see how closely the dress code is followed!

Lucky you with the 30% off coupon!
I'm waiting until I get one to finally buy a Kuerig....I swear, when I want something from Kohl's, all I get is 15%. As soon as I have nothing to buy, I get 30% off.
Same thing happens to me, so annoying! I may just end up scouring Kohl's again - I just went to order the dress from The Rack and the color I wanted is all sold out! Note to self: order the dress right away when posting on this board! LOL!

Exactly what Recoveringactor said. I love the detail on the fourth dress! With some cute jewelry and shoes it will be perfect.
