help me accessorize!

I bought a tea length red shimmery strapless dress to wear to a military ball next week.  Now I need some help with accessories! Pics would be greatly appreciated!

shoes: black? strappy sandal or closed toe?

jewely: i was thinking a multi-strand pearl necklace? Should I go with something with more bling?

Should I get a shawl or wrap? What kind?

Re: help me accessorize!

  • If your dress is shimmery I would maybe not wear a necklace. Or something a little more simple instead maybe some cute chandelier earrings and a couple of complimenting bracelets.  For shoes I would go with something more formal such as a closed toe or even peep toe. You could even go with a cute silver or gold shoe instead of black. If you want to go with a shawl I would go with maybe a silver or gold Pashmina to compliment the shoes.

I have this image in my head.  Not sure if I am giving it justice with words lol.

  • Do you have a picture of your dress?
  • I do but I don't know how to put it on here.
  • Ok here is the dress.

  • I would personally wear gold, nude, or silver heels.  Maybe even bronze depending on what type of red the dress is.  I agree with previous poster about wearing a larger earring and no necklace.

ETA: I should probably note that I can't see the photo of the dress at work.

  • If you want to maintain the formality of the dress, skip the wedges.  Black shoes would be very stark against the red.  Nude heels would be better--in dressing sandals or closed toes.  I don't like sandals but that is a personal preference.   I would skip a necklace and add a stack of thin bracelets on one arm, chandelier earrings and a clutch.  I would also add a wrap in case of too-much-air-conditioning which can plague many event halls.
