Recommend a day trip/ overnigt stay for our anniv.
Looking for something different, fun but no too costly to do.
Ideas would be appreciated!
Thanks!

I am in Orlando area (Deltona) and want something close by.
Thanks!
St. Augustine
Sanibel/Captiva Islands - a few hours south of here
We loved Captiva Island. We went there for our honeymoon and wanted to go back every year for our anniversary, but we can't this year because we're having a baby this weekend and our anniversary is Monday. But we still have plans to go back every Nov.
I don't know what your budget is, but it is cheaper this time of year because it is off season and it's not too crowded. The weather was perfect there for sitting on the beach or at the pool and not getting too hot.
By the way, our resort was South Seas. Very nice and we never left our little corner of the resort. But if you venture out, there's shopping, restaurants, etc.
I've heard wonderful things about Captiva Islands. I haven't been there yet, but I hope to soon!
I know it's against everyone else on the board, but I really didn't like Saint Augustine. I found it rather boring and very crowded. In fact, it seemed more like a cruise ship port of call than Key West did. But everyone likes different things about vacations....it just wasn't my cup of tea.
I'll second those who said St. Augustine and Sanibel/Captiva.
I'd also mention St. Petersburg. There are some really affordable historic inns and B&Bs in the downtown waterfront area, and there's lots of museums and little shops and restaurants to go to nearby. There's also a beach there, so if you had two or three days, you could do the beach one day and the cultural sightseeing stuff the other.
Have fun on your trip!

St. Augustine is pretty, especially if you get out of the heart of the city and explore a little on the outskirts.
