newborn/family photographers
I am considering this for after the babe is born...any recs? Also, at what point/age did you get them done?
Re: newborn/family photographers
We didn't do a newborn shoot, but I am scheduling my kid's 1st birthday/family shoot and am using my wedding photog (who used to be with a company).

Was recommended to Nicole by larrysdarling and I just love her and her work! She did Anna's newborn and first birthday shoot

Anna Capri 5.4.11
We used Erica McCollam for Claire's 1st year pictures. Great price and I like the 2 pictures I've seen so far. She puts a lot more pictures up on FB than her website.

Maternity shoots are usually in the beginning/mid third trimester (28-34 weeks) so you really "look" pregnant but arent feeling hot and sweaty and triple chinned and big as a house. Most newborn shoots Ive heard of are right after birth--like sometime within the first month I think. An actual photographer would probably be able to advise your SIL even better though.
Typically you want your maternity pics around 30-35 weeks. You want to book maternity well before that as you'll have more dates to play around with for photographer availability.
There are basically two types of newborn photographers- lifestyle who do more of pictures with you/dad/siblings in home with a posed shot or two. Or posed newborn photography who do 80% of pictures of the baby, but one or two with you/daddy.
7-10 days old is the best time frame for newborn pictures.
I can't recommend a photographer because the guy I went to for both the boys was just meh. And I then did Tommy's myself after I was disappointed.
I will say there's a "popular" photographer in my area who does them and misses focus alot. That photog has NOT been recommended in this thread.
