Ice Cream 911!

Hey ladies!  I haven't posted here in a looong time, but I need your expertise.  DH and I made chocolate ice cream last night using the Cuisinart machine recipe (eggs, cook milk, mix together, etc). It says to cool in the fridge but it was taking a long time so we went to bed and decided to put it in the machine today.  It is REALLY thick, like pudding bordering on fudge.  Should I put it in the machine now? Let it warm up a bit and hope it loosens? Put it in the mixer with something to loosen it?

It tastes soooo good so I want to make sure I don't ruin it. TIA!

Re: Ice Cream 911!

  • I'm far from a pro, but I'd set it out at room temp for about 15 minutes and see if that changes the consistency. Did it look like that last night when you put it in the fridge? If not, I'd guess it just got a bit too cold and should be good to go after sitting a little bit.
  • Ok thanks.  I left it out for a little and now it is in the ice cream maker so we shall see what happens!
  • You would have been fine, when you make ice cream with eggs and then cool you are looking for a custard/pudding consistency.
