Camping theme room for my son - any ideas?

I can't decide if I want to do blue, green or a light brown/tan.  I already have the bedding it's Woolrich Big Bear Campground but need some cost effective decorating ideas.  I was thinking about a canoe shaped book shelf (anyone know where to get one?) maybe a lantern lamp maybe even some of those wall stickers (bear or deer) haven't been able to find much online though - any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

  • Cute idea! Esp the lantern lamp

Value City Furniture used to have a neat children's collection called Camp Granada.  I found a pic of the bed online.  They may have lantern lamps in that series I can't remember

Great Wolf Lodge has pics of murals of bears in their kids suite so I really think your idea of the deer or bear is perfect.

Maybe use big camping basket or picnic basket for a toy chest?

And you've probably already seen these pages

but they have really cute pics (esp the wood beam wallpaper on the walls and the tent hanging over the bed)

If you are handy with a needle and thread you could probably make this

  • I am hecka jelly of your son's room...I would have loved a camping theme room when I was a kid. I think a light green or light olive type green on the walls would be awesome, and then bring brown and blue in with furnature and fabrics. Maybe something like this for the walls and then bring in the camping more in the furnature?

  • I did something similar with DS - more of a cabin look though. I bought "log" shelves, put a canoe paddle above the window with his name on it, fake stuffed animal deer and bear heads - they look like stuffed animals minus the body (and yes, hunting is pretty common in our area). Also got the peel and stick moose and evergreen wall decals. The room itself is beige with forest green curtains and bedding. I bought rustic looking lighting and furniture. He loves his room!
  • Thanks for all the great ideas!  05_bride, where did you get the peel and stick moose and evergreen wall decals?  That would be great in his room.  I might have scored a great boat shape bookshelf on craigslist, just waiting to hear back from the seller.  The canoe paddle would go good with that too - where did you get that?  I saw some on Pottery Barn Kids, but they were not personalized.

    Thanks again.

  • Cute idea!  Is the room big enough to do one of those cool indoor tents that are all over pinterest. Would make a great reading area.
