Soft claws?

Hey--

I have a 15 month old tiny tiny shih tzu (about 8 lbs) who is a bit shorter in her front legs than her back. This causes her to scrape the top of her claws on the ground and the poor things are worn down to the quick and she's bleeding a bit after a long walk (on concrete-- I've moved to walking her on grass as much as possible until I get find a solution!).  Has anyone used soft claws on their dog? As her nails are so worn down, I'm not sure they'll even stay on at this point. It's really only the front two, in the middle. The one's on the side are just staying a little filed.

Thanks!

Re: Soft claws?

  • Poor Puppy! We use them on our cat, so I don't know how helpful this will be to you, but they work great, even when we let the cat outside to play. The dirt doesn't seem to wear them out any faster than keeping him inside would, but then again, he might spend an half hour outside on any given day tops. The instructions for applying them require the nails to be shorter/trimmed, so if your puppy's are already worn down it might not be a problem.

    Good luck!

  • I use these for my cat, too!

I'd say if she's wearing down her nails so much from walking on concrete, they're (the soft paws/claws) are worth a shot!

My only advice would be to let her nails grow out a little bit before applying the soft claws because they are attached with superglue. If her nails are worn down to the quick, I'd imagine it would suck to get superglue in there. :-/

But besides that, good luck! Hope it works out for ya!

  • Thanks ladies!  I'm trying to keep her on the grass as much as possible these days, so hopefully they will have grown back a bit by the time we come back from our vacation. I can only pick these things up in the States so she has about a month to grow! :)  And they are making a line of these for dogs now, so they will thankfully fit!
