7 weeks

Okay update:

Major nausea this week. Morning sickness has finally arrived. So far I haven't actually thrown up but there are days where I'm sure I'd feel better if I did.  I'm so HOT all the time. I feel like an oven.

I had my first appointment on Friday. It was about an hour and a half. I had to pee in a cup which is going to become an every visit thing. DH went with me to help answer all the family background medical questions. Then they took 5 vials of blood. I am not a needle person but the nurse did a great job. DH and I were disappointed though.  I called my Dr office on Tuesday to see if they were going to do an ultrasound because DH didn't want to miss it. The nurse told me yes but they didn't do one. :( it was because she didn't have the right machine for so early in the pregnancy. Bummer!

My next appointment is in three weeks and she's going to do my first ultrasound then to hear the heartbeat. I'm still not telling a lot of people. My doctor said there is a 1 in 5 chance of miscarriage until you hear the heartbeat. Leave it to DH to ask that question. So I really can't wait for these three weeks to fly by.

Friday was pretty rough. After my appointment we went through the drive thru for lunch. I spent the rest of the day miserable. It felt like I had the flu. It was probably a combo of fried food for lunch and missing that much blood. Yuck. Yesterday was better.

Re: 7 weeks

  • Bummer on not being able to "see" the baby in an ultrasound. The next three weeks will fly by I'm sure. Don't worry about miscarriage. You'll be fine.

I hope you feel better and little to no nausea!

  • Good things come to those who wait!  I know that doesn't make it any easier! Try not to stress, keep your feet up and keep hydrated.

Hope you get to feeling back to yourself.

  • I'm sure the time will fly.  I've got my last week of class this week and finals next Monday and Tuesday.  So I've got stuff to focus on.  But oh I wish I felt better.  The best way I can explain it to DH is that it feels like a really bad case of the flu.  I'm tired, hot, and nauseous.  And it's completely random.  I'll be feeling fine, then bam, not fine.  I just keep reminding myself it could be worse (sickness-wise) and that my nausea means I'm still preggers.

And if he doesn't stop laughing every time I get up to pee, I might start getting hormonal.

  • Michelle I love these updates! I'm glad your morning sickness isnt constant but it sucks that you have it at all. Hopefully you get to see your babies heartbeat soon! From what I have heard its not abnormal to have the doctor wait until 8 weeks to do an ultra sound.

  • My mom was 12 weeks when she had her first ultrasound, and that was early at the time! You are lucky you can look at 8!

  • Oh definitely lucky to be able to see anything so soon.  And they could see something now if they used a different machine.  But the doctor didn't have it.  I was actually surprised when the nurse told me they would be doing one.  I was thinking it was a bit early.  I'll actually be almost 10 weeks when I get the first one.  And then the standard ultrasound around 20 weeks to find out what it is.

This morning was not fun.  Even ginger ale was not helping.  But I felt better by 11:00 so I ate some lunch. Now I'm just unsettled.  More like lunch is just not sitting quite right.  It's better than nausea so I can't complain too much.  It's also effing hot here.
