iPhone data plan usage question

If I'm using the Internet on my phone in my own house and am using my house wi-fi does this mean it's "free" and I'm not using up time on my data plan?

I want to start watching movies and tv shows on my phone via Netflix and NBC.com but have been worried about exceeding my data plan.

Thanks so much in advance!

Re: iPhone data plan usage question

  • If you are watching things via wifi then it will not use your data plan, you will use your wifi from your home...

On another note, technically it is not "free wifi" because you are paying your bill to use it but if you went to somewhere like Starbucks then they would have "free wifi" because they are paying the bill and you are not paying to use it.

  • Yes it's free as in not using your data mintues. Just look for the wifi signal at the top of the phone to be sure that is what you're using. My DH was using his smart phone thinking it was on wifi but when I took a look he was actually using data time. So just make sure you see the correct symbol.
    This is my AE.
