Lunch at work: bring or buy?

Hi ladies

Do you bring your lunch to work or pick something up? For those who bring, what are your faves? I am looking for some new easy and healthy ideas.

TIA!
:)

Re: Lunch at work: bring or buy?

  • Every monday during my scheduled "lunch break" I head to the grocery store and buy all the things I'll need for food while I'm at work for the week (lunches, snacks etc.) I never order out or get something from a restaurant during the week.

    My "go to's" are:

Trader Joe's grilled chicken strips with rice, salsa, and cheese

Cold cuts, pita bread, special K chips, and a pickle

    Healthy choice meal/Smart Ones

We have a small toaster oven here at work so sometime's I'll buy soy chicken fingers and bake them at work.

I try to bring a lunch everyday so I don't spend money buying lunch. But at least once a week, I'll forget and end up buying lunch at the cafeteria.

I usually bring leftovers from dinner the night before, or a PB&J, banana, and Kashi Honey Almond bar.

  • I could definitely use some ideas, too!  I usually go to Subway. It's quick, easy, and really close to work.  I only get a half hour for lunch.  I would love to bring lunch, and sometimes I get in a pattern where I do, but it's been a while.  I have to get back to that!

  • I'm terrible because I buy lunch everyday its such a bad habit but even when I pack lunch I won;t eat it.
  • I bring a lunch, except for on Thursdays when the boss takes us out to eat!

I bring chips, a sandwich, fruit snacks, some fruit, and sometimes something sweet for dessert.

  • I bring lunch most days and order out once or twice a week. Most of the times it's leftovers from dinners, especially any "one pot" meals (pasta w/ sauce, taco chicken rice bowls, etc.) as they're easy to heat up. Today it's a tossed salad with a few slices of bread and some cheese.

I typically bring my lunch to work and like PP it's usually leftovers from the night before. Today my lunch consists of chicken strips, cheezits and yogurt. Other times I'll make a sandwich with pita bread then stuff it with whatever I have at the house. I almost always bring chobani yogurt to work because it's more filling and I usually have a stash of granola bars in my purse. The times I forget a lunch or don't have anything at the house, I just run to Subway for something to eat that isn't too terrible for me.

  • i try to bring my lunch everyday, except fridays i treat myself to my favorite restaurant downtown.

usually it's leftovers and a salad.  or leftovers on the salad.  today i'm having pork green chili and a mini quesadilla to go with it.  yesterday i took in my leftover lemon chicken, cut it up and put it on my spinach salad.  it was yummy :)

  • I TRY to bring my lunch as much as I can...some weeks are better then others. My H is a chef as mention a million times so a lot of times he bring left overs from work and I bring them for lunch or even just have cereal or pb crackers. anything I can find haah.

  • I bring my lunch to work most days. Once in awhile I might get a sandwhich delivered from D'Angelo's. But I do buy coffee every morning. I tried to break out of that habit, but it didn't work.

I usually have leftovers. Today it's chicken with Annie's Mac and cheese, chobani yogurt, some pepper jack cheese, and fruit. Sometimes I have cereal with fruit and yogurt, or a sandwhich if we have bread. When I make dinner at night I put leftovers (usually enough for just one) in a container. I don't want to think about lunch at 6:30 in the morning when I'm leaving the house.

  • I live in a small town, so most days I actually go home for lunch.  Those are the sandwich on ww with some fruit and/or chips days.  Or whatever leftovers are in the fridge.

We have a wonderful restaurant close by that makes the most devine burritos you can imagine.  I love anything mexican, so this restaurant gets our office business pretty regularly.

  • I'm lucky enough to be able to go home. But it's usually still nothing special. Leftovers or sandwhiches typically. Soup of some sort in the winter :) Maybe once a week, or once every couple weeks i meet a girlfriend or hubby for lunch.

  • I bring a lunch- it gets so expensive to eat out everyday!  I'm pretty boring and usually bring a PB and J, fruit snacks, a granola bar, and sometimes some crackers or something.  Nothing too exciting :)

  • Bring it!  Healthier, cheaper, and a lot of times I don't have time for a regular lunch break.  A lot of times "lunch" = "snacking through the day/morning".  We don't even take lunch breaks at the office I work at on Thursdays/Fridays, we just work straight through and hope we get 5 minutes to eat a handful of something!  So I probably won't be much help, as my lunch consists of a variety of granola bars, fruit strips, whole fruit, pretzels, and/or crackers =]

  • I bring lunch and normally treat myself to Jimmy Johns on Friday.  If we have leftovers from going out on the weekend I sometimes bring them.  Otherwise I normally make a salad consisting of romaine lettuce/spinach, strawberries, apples, or raspberries, then pecans or walnuts, and oil and vinegar.  I normally bring raisins and sunflower seeds as well as a whole fruit and veggie for snacks during the day.  I am currently bored with salads, so I started making sandwiches last week.  I also sometimes make a quinoa and veggie salad, with oil and vinegar.
