For the record...

My "moving to Canada" statement was strictly a joke about maternity leave.  I have been telling DH that for weeks, or since I found out they have a 12 month policy.  The point is, if you voted then you did your part for whomever you chose.  If it didn't turn out the way you wanted, then that's life.  You have to move on and trust that the president will do his best to keep everything in the best interest for the American people.  Not the african american population, or the white population, or the hispanic population, or any other specific population....but the country as a whole.  Like someone stated below, he doesn't single handedly run the country, that would be impossible for one man.  As I believe that the problems we have now didn't stem from Bush himself.  It's just easier to put the blame on him.

Are people really going to leave the country? No.  I did hear people saying they were leaving when the economy got bad too, so I don't think it's just now.  So, in other words...while I don't agree with many of Obama's policies/beliefs, that doesn't mean I'm not going to respect him as my president for at least the next 4 years.

God Bless America...my home sweet home!! :)

Re: For the record...

  • I hope I didn't offend anyone either.  Never in my life have I even thought about moving to another country because the man I didn't vote for won the election.  I will say that I voted for Bush both times and he has really dissappointed me, but have I thought about moving to another country in the past 8 years??  NO!  I am very grateful to be living in America where we can choose where to go to school, worship, what to watch on tv, ect.

I probably should never have said anything because I really didn't mean it that way.  I am going to support Obama and I will be optimistic about the changes he'll make for our country.  I love this country and I never want to live anywhere else!

    Siggy coming soon....
  • i personally love canda's maternity leave policy. i think it's excellent. so i hear ya!! :)
  • lol, I knew what you meant.

If you wanna move somewhere within the United States, Washington state has a good maternity policy.  LOL - my SIL is about to take advantage of it :)

You know DH has a dream of living in Seattle one day.  But it would be wonderful if the Army stations him at Ft Lewis and I get pg while we're up there.  Any good maternity policy is good in my book. :)

  • I meant no offense either. It was obviously a joke, and I wanted to make a spot for those of us who voted for McCain to chat since there were 3 threads dedicated to the president-elect.

But, apparently, like I said before, people seem to deem whoever they don't agree with as evil. I take the references people made about my post with a grain of salt because at the end of the day, this is just an internet message board. I could use less than one hand to count the people I know IRL from here, and those who do know my heart. They also know how rediculous it would be to call me un-American or unpatriotic. So, those who don't know me that make assumptions about my attitude towards our country (or anything else) can KMA!!

I'm about as American as apple pie and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Yeah all the rain they have up there would take alot to get used to.  Not to mention the cold winters.  But it looks like a beautiful city and I love that it's on the water!

  • What is this policy that you speak of? Lol, not that it would do me any good now!  Maybe I could take their policy to the leaders of AL and demand the same!
