Sugar Cookie recommendations?
Does anyone have an amazing sugar cookie recipe? I'm looking for some that are more on the sweet side. Its seems like a lot of the ones I have tried have been lightly sweet.

Not a poster, mostly a lurker on this board, but this is a great recipe I got from a mom friend.
When they first come out of the oven they aren?t exactly crisp, but they?re not soft either. After you frost them if you let them sit in an airtight container for a few hours they become soft and tender.
1 ? cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 tsp vanilla
? teaspoon almond or lemon extract (I?m partial to almond, but lemon is good too)
1 large egg
2 ? cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
decorative crystal sugar if desired
Mix powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, almond or lemon extracts and egg in large bowl until creamy and uniform. Stir in remaining ingredients except decorative sugar. Cover and refrigerate for several hours until very firm.
Heat oven to 375 deg. Roll dough out to ? inch thickness on floured surface. Cut into desired shapes. If desired, sprinkle with decorative sugar. Place on cookie sheet and bake for 7-8 minutes. Cool completely then decorate with icing if desired.
I usually frost these instead of putting on the sugar before baking. This recipe also tends to spread quite a bit so sometimes I even throw the cut cookies into the freezer for 10 or 15 mins before I bake them. Mine seem to take longer than 8 minutes to cook also (even if I don?t? chill the shapes before hand), so you?ll have to see how your oven does. A good way to decorate for little kids is to brush the baked cookies lightly with corn syrup then you can let them sprinkle on sugar or sprinkles, etc. The stuff sticks really well to the corn syrup and that might be less frustrating for him than trying to spread icing. These cookies are really yummy iced though! This is the icing recipe
4 cups powdered sugar
? cup butter, softened
5 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla (sometimes I put a little drop or two of almond extract too)
food coloring
Cream butter and sifted sugar until smooth. Add vanilla and gradually add milk until you get the consistency you want.
At first this icing tastes really ?powdered sugary? but after it sits for awhile it loses that flavor and tastes good!
Yum.
