Endometriosis Management - Nutrionally VS Hormonally

I have written other posts about trying to find other birth control options that may work better for me. I have endometriosis and fibrocystic breasts, so my doctor prefers that I am on some sort of hormone (and I would too). The problem is that I am just not happy with any of the birth control options I have tried, or any other options I haven't. I have had every side effect in the book, both normal and severe (I even ended up in the ER). My mom has the same problems as me (endo, fibrocystic breasts, and trouble with hormonal birth control). She stopped taking birth control pills and just toughed it out.

I am currently on NuvaRing and am supposed to put my new ring in today. The problem is that I have felt so great having this week off, and don't want to have the side effects (lack of libido, extremely sore breasts, oily skin, fatigue, etc) for another month while I wait to see my doctor on the 31st. All of my side effects vanished after taking the ring out for my "free" week.

So my questions are 1) Has anyone had success managing endometriosis with good nutrition and diet? and 2) Would you stay on the ring another month until you could see the doctor or just go off of it?

I have already gone off caffeine, and have been off the last couple months and have already seen some improvement in pain. Also, I have been on NuvaRing for the last 7 months, and the side effects have only gotten worse.

  • There is also acupuncture. Have you looked into that?

If a guy i know can manage his Crohn's with acupuncture -- and with great success -- then I'm pretty sure plenty of other health issues can be mananged with acupuncture.
