Thank you.
Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.
What do you do to promote your blog besides Facebook? I just started a fitness blog with a friend of mine and it's just moving so slow it's disappointing. I know it's only been live since the beginning of June, but we got our first reader giveaway and all you need to do is comment and we have like 4 comments.
If anyone has any suggestions or wants to check it out and critique it that would be much appreciated. I am a fitness professional, not a professional writer!

Re: bloggers come in please
It takes time to build a following. I know you want things to be go go go from the start, but they don't work that way. You've been around a month and half - it'll grow! Organically grown readership is the best.
I'm not actively promoting my blog yet (and I've had it a year and a half with over 70 posts worth of awesome information on my main blog plus lots more on its two daughter blogs), but I plan to in the future when I have time.
I've read some of the best things you can do is comment on other blogs of similar appeal and join a blogging group that will add your blog to their roll. I've also heard that pinning on Pinterest things from your blog is also good advertising. I've added my blog to StumbleUpon, and there are large blog groups (like BlogHer) that are used for promotion.
Google around and you'll find some great articles that give suggestions on how to up readership.
Don't be discouraged! Like anything worth doing, blogs need attention and patience. Very few are successful overnight!
EDIT: Add a link to your siggy! I get a lot traffic from these boards. I also used to add the date updated with the post title to entice people to read.
Create a twitter account for your blog, and tweet updates. Join other networking sites like BlogHer and 20 Something Bloggers (I'm sure there are others, but those are the ones I know of).
Also commenting on other people's blogs is a good way to get traffic to your site. Not posting about YOUR blog, but just commenting in general. I find a few blogs that way. When I was an active blogger, I also did guest-blogging for when some of my favorite & popular blogs were on vacation.
Twitter has been my biggest way to promote my blog.
By far.

I have a fitness blog as well, and I've found readership to pick up very slowly. However, commenting on other blogs (especially ones with similar interests) has been a great source of readers for me. Pinterest is also a big one - try to put quality images on your site and then pin them.
I joined Twitter but have only seen minimal traffic from that. Of course, I don't tweet very often so that's probably to be expected. Good luck - I'm checking out your blog right now!
