Making Bread

Do you prefer to use a bread maker or a Loaf pan? I made some in a loaf pan it was a whole wheat and it ended up pretty heavy and didn't seem to be completely cooked in the middle. I want to start making bread again but not sure the route to go

Any tips or advice?

Re: Making Bread

  • I don't have a bread machine so I make all of my bread in a loaf pan.  Make sure you let the yeast sit long enough in warm water and also make sure the water is warm (110 degrees) not hot, or else it will kill the yeast.  Adhere to the time guidelines on kneading.  Some breads will need 10 minutes of kneading and others are delicate and are kneading for only a few minutes.

  • I just tried one of the no-knead recipes for the first time recently, and it was amazing. A long process, but only 5-10 minutes of hands on time. You cook the bread in a dutch oven (or other lidded pot). Definitely recommend trying it!

  • I have a bread maker but I prefer using a loaf pan. Each bread is different so be sure you are following the recipe closely.
