Tipping Pet Sitter?

I was wondering if there is any out there with experience on tipping pet sitters?

I am using a pet sitter for the first time and I am not sure on the protocol of if I should tip or not, and if I do tip, how much?. The sitter is getting paid $40 a day for about 7 days to come in and feed one cat, give some treats and play for a few minutes. The sitter is here twice a day for about 30 minutes a visit.

Re: Tipping Pet Sitter?

  • If you think about it, you are paying them $40/hour. That's pretty good. I'd be happy as the sitter to just get that much. I don't see the need to tip them.

  • Like PP, I don't necessarily see the need to tip them. However, if you really feel obligated, I would just round it up to $300.
  • I've never used a pet sitter, but I guess I'd treat it like any other service. Are you paying the sitter directly or is it through an agency of sorts? If it's through an agency, you might want to consider tipping. The idea of rounding it up sounds fair to me.
