Countertop Paints?

My friend told me about special paint you can use to paint your countertop. I always thought you had to replace the counter if you didnt like it ( mine is a horrible puke orange color, ewwww). I was wondering if anyone has done this and if its cheaper than just replacing it, and if its relatively easy.

Thanks!!!

Re: Countertop Paints?

  • Hi I normally just lurk, but I came across this on pinterest. Hope this helps!

  • depends what type of material...I am going to say in theory you can paint anything to make it look better, in practicality...do you want the same clean in  your kitchen? Or is the look more important? At my parents house, they painted the laminate countertops and the laminate floors in the guest bathroom...with paint supposidly just for that. Well....the floor is a complete joke now as the paint doesnt have as smooth a surface as they did orginally, so dirt just sticks to it when you try and sweep or mop instead of coming off. The countertops clean better, but they have stain spots all over them from toothpaste/cleaning products, gel etc...anything that is at all colored or has bleach in it cannot be near it at all because it discolors so easily as the paint seems to absorb it...so much for a specially for laminate paint....
  • Yup- we used Giani Granite:

  • It's called refinishing countertops. Look it up and you'll find a lot of info. We are about to do this with our countertops.
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • that helps. I think I'd rather save up to get new counters instead of doing if half way and getting a half way result.
