Birth Control
Okay so I take Tri Cyclen Lo for my birth control. I have been taking it for over a year now and have had no issues. I recently had to switch how I got it though, because of my insurance. I used to just go to the pharmacy every month and pick it up, but now it gets sent in a three month supply through the mail from the company. I Well, on Sunday (the 22nd) is when I was supposed to start my new pack, but I couldn't find it. This was my last pack of the set of three and it wasn't where I always put my birth control and where the other two packs were. So I tried to call my doctors office today (first chance I've got since I work when their open), but they were closed today. Needless to say I have ordered my supply for the next three months, but it won't be here for a couple weeks. I fully intend on calling my doctor on monday, but just wanted to see if anyone has any advice. Should I have my doctor send me a prescription to a local pharmacy or should I just wait and until my new pack comes and start next month. Has anyone else gone through this and did you have any weird side effects? Thanks!

I'd call your doctor tomorrow to see what they say, but this is what I would do:
It's been a week since you should have started your pack and over two weeks since you last took a pill. You're supposed to start pill packs the Sunday (or whatever day you chose to start) after your period begins. That time has passed for you by over a week.
I'd wait for your period to come on its own now. Your pills will come in by then. By the time your period starts, you'll have your new pills and will be able to pick up again after your next period begins.
I had to do this once or twice. It's no big deal - condoms until you can start again.
My OB/GYN drilled the rules of bcp into my head when I first got them at 18. I think she wanted to make really sure I knew how not to get pregnant. This situation was covered, as was missing one pill, two pills, more pills and when I was protected vs. not in those situations. You can ask your doctor to do the same so you'll always be clear on how to handle this stuff in the future.

Thanks that is basically what I had decided to do. I recently switched doctors, but my first doctor never explained the "rules" to me when I first got on birth control. Unfortunately my doctor's office is not open until Monday, and by then I'm pretty sure it would be too late to start a pack anyways! I'll just be patient and wait, I was just worried I might have some weird side effects or something!

I don't think you'll have weird side effects. Your period might not come in exactly four weeks, but you won't be pregnant as long as you take proper precautions.
My OB/GYN was a bit drill leader about it. My friends used to come to be all the time to be reassured when they screwed up. It was funny. :-)

June 2012 Bride!
I was on orth trycyclone, and the low version for 12 years and my sex drive was getting more and more in the toilet. Last month I went off the pill and bought the lady-comp fertility monitor. It is almost as effective as the pill, more effective then condoms and completely natural!!! You just take your temp every morning and it gives you a light green/yellow/red. On red days you will need a backup but boy is it worth it!
My sex drive went from a 2 to a 10. I now actually want to have sex almost everyday.. before I only really wanted to at most once a week and really wanted to after 3 weeks... now after 3 days I start to feel like I did at 3 weeks!
