Ryans Homes?

Anyone have experience with building a home via Ryans Homes? I've heard mixed reviews...

Re: Ryans Homes?

  • Yes. We built in 2008 and just sold it in March of this year.

We would never buy with them again. And, we don't care for them.

The workmanship was really sloppy - curved walls, uneven floor moulding/trim, bumpy paint on the banisters and railings. Also the stuff they show you in the model isn't what they put in the home - you see a Delta faucet and you get some cheapo brand once the house is built and it's too late to make them change.

We joke that our house probably won't be standing straight in 20 years.

Our neighborhood was promised a huge park and walking paths - never got either.

Whatever you do, even if you go with another builder, be sure to have an inspection done that you pay for out of your own pocket. We had one done and our's caught that Ryan forgot to put flashing on part of our roof........

  • I have heard bad things about them as well, but nothing that I haven't heard about any other builder before, honestly.

We are purchasing a home built by them in the 70's. I've heard that if you keep an eye on them and know what is going on, you get better results (which is true of any builder).

Generally, I think you just need to know what is going on when you build. We chose not to build because the cost was higher than purchasing an existing home and because we aren't good at the know-how on building to be able to watch and make sure they are doing things right.
