Decided on a 5k!
Thanks to all of your wonderful tips on where is the best place to look for a race -- I found one! My first 5k will be at the NC zoo on September 15th (Run Wild 5k). My goal is to finish. This I am certain I will do.
In fact I think I may have planned out my second 5k -- The color run in November.
I start Week 4 today of the C25k program. I have earned 4 badges thus far and am a "Rising Star". A badge I wear proudly. So far, I have earned a pair of new running shoes - YAY! My next badge I get a running iphone holder. Two more badges and I get a new running outfit.
Thanks to everyone who has offered words of encouragement. Now its time to run!

The C25K program I am using has an internal award system where you earn badges after having completed certain stages in the program. There arent actual prizes with the badges (think girl scout electronic badges) but I have assigned them a more tangible meaning so that I continue to look forward to the next run.
