We closed today!

We closed on our house today! It has been a very hectic time for us--a couple weeks back, I got in a pretty bad car accident in my BRAND new car (like I bought it brand new and only had it ten days), then had some back issues from the wreck, then we were on a vacation for a week that we planned months ago, then we closed two days after getting back.

But we closed and that's all that mattered. So far, we only had time to order a sectional for downstairs and put some paint samples on the walls. There is a LOT of work to do and the sellers left the house in really good shape, but besides painting there's touching up ALL the base boards, windows, and doors, changing light fixtures and switch plates, ripping out overgrown and messy landscaping, planting some grass where their swingset had killed it, painting the entire exterior (probably waiting until fall). In short we have our work cut out for us but are so excited to be homeowners!

Any advice from people who have owned their homes for awhile? What's some advice you wish you knew when you first bought a place?

    Congrats !
  • Sounds like fun and congrats on closing!  My only advice is live with anything that is a larger project for a bit and make sure you really want to change it how you thought.  I have been in my house for 3 months and I am still back and forth on a few of my projects.
