bedroom apartment ideas

Whenever I take a break from school, I want to be able to fix up the bedroom a bit and make it look more comfy. It's really bland for now... What type of pictures do you guys put up? I was suggesting pictures of my boyfriend and I and our pets, but he said it's kind of weird if we have our pictures all over the place haha. I guess he wants something more soothing? I saw some DIYs on Pinterest that I thought would be great, but I'm not too sure...

We just bought dark blue-silverish curtains, have peach cream walls (so warm tone) and our bedsheets are brown. Yikes lol. Any website places you go to for apartment ideas??

Re: bedroom apartment ideas

  • Houzz.com is one of my favorite websites for great inspiration. Majority of it is huge rooms but it's not hard to pull your favorite pieces into smaller spaces. And in my opinion you can never go wrong with diys.

  • When we moved into our apartment, I read Feng Shui articles on decorating, in the bedroom always have things in pairs (2 nightstands, 2 nightstand lamps, 2 frames/wall art across bed on wall, the frames should always be of a couple - never 1 person alone in frame). I bought the wall art of a couple dancing and the other of a couple holding hands in the rain from Kirklands. I love Kirklands for decor, they are inexpensive in my opinion. You can make bedroom more cozy with plush throw pillows, I bought ours at Annas Linens.
  • I think apartmenttherapy.com has good suggestions.  And it sounds like you have a confused color scheme.  A good place to get free suggestions for that are the professional paint chip combinations at your local hardware store.  So if you like your new curtains, and you obviously can't change the wall color, try to find a combo that includes at least one of those shades.  I'd nix the brown bedding.  Keep it simple, opting for fewer larger pieces of art, for example, rather than several smaller ones.  Have a focal point.  In a bedroom this is usually the wall with the bed, since that's the largest thing in the room.  Play up the wall above the bed, perhaps by picking a simple Pinterest project to try making to hang there.  Best wishes!

  • The color scheme you have sounds...odd.

    I like browsing on apartmenttherapy.com

As for wall art.  I do not have anything on the walls right now.  Everything I want is so darn expensive!   I do enjoy browsing through art.com, allposters.com, and zazzle.com and find art I like.  I'm really itching to get the large benchwright floor mirror from pottery barn.

  • Pinterest, Houzz and Apartmenttherapy are all great resources you should take advantage of. Additionally, if you need wall art ideas that are simple and easy, take a look at some of the stuff on this site: http://www.lot26.com/se/Wall-Decals . There are great decorations for pretty much any room, so I'm sure you could find something you like.
