White cabinets, brown walls?

We are looking to make some changes t our house. We haven't done anything too drastic since buying it in 2006 and we will be there for awhile so we want to make some changes.  We don't want to get new cabinets but would like to paint the kitchen and put up back splash.  Right now the walls are sort of an off white/very light beige color. I am looking to paint them a chocolate brown color.

Does anyone have a kitchen with these colors? Any other color suggestions that would look good w/white cabinets?

It's a good look.  Image google "white cabinets brown walls" and there are a bunch of examples.

I think white cabinets look best when they have a high contrast background, so really any color with personality will work.

I think that would look gorgeous!  Check out Java from Sherwin Williams for paint color- it's a nice, rich brown.  Lowe's has a pretty decent selection of ORB or black hardware (depending on your new backsplash) which would also be a really pretty contrast w/your white cabinets.

I'm straying from your original question here, but if you're also looking to update your cabinet hardware, my parents just ordered cabinet pulls for their renovated bathroom and found a great selection and discounted prices online.
