Does anyone have a recipe for homemade fire engine red frosting that doesn't taste horribly of artificial red flavoring like the stuff from the store does? Thanks!

I'm a cake decorator and Americolor is all I use too. And here is my FAVORITE icing recipe:
2 cups Crisco, 1/4 cup water, 2 tbsp meringue powder (you can find it at Wal-Mart in the cake decorating section if you don't have a cake decorating supply store nearby), 2 tsp clear vanilla extract (or regular is fine, but the icing won't be bright white), 2 tsp clear butter extract (or what you find at the grocery store, but both clear extracts can usually be found in that same section at Wal-Mart), a pinch of salt, and 2 lbs (1 bag) powdered sugar.
If you need to thin it out (to write on a cake), use clear corn syrup.
