  • H and I are both American. DS was born in a local hospital in Vietnam in February. After getting the VN birth certificate, obtaining the report of birth abroad was pretty simple. We needed a few main documents (marriage certificate, proof of residency, birth certificate and his passport photos/application) and once we got it all in to the consulate we had the certificate and his passport in a little over a week.

  • Forgot to mention that no, they aren't sticklers over the exact dates of being in the country. I remember kind of gawking at that question, as I had been in and out of the country so much and had no idea about exact dates. I guesstimated, and they pretty much glossed over it anyway.
