Good morning everyone. Sorry this is a bit long.
I am trying to finalize colors for our new home, and am running into trouble with ideas for our kitchen. I unfortunately don't have any pics, so I apologize for that, but I will do the best I can to explain the space.
We have an open living/dining room with tall ceilings (at least a story and a half tall) that we have decided to paint Nomadic Desert by SW. We are planning to have the ceilings painted minus 75% tint of the Nomadic Desert. Our kitchen opens from the living room, and is galley style with 9 foot ceilings. It features granite in neutral tones (khaki, blacks, whites, gray, but mostly khaki and tan shades), and flooring that is greige. Appliances are stainless and black.
The current color is an olivey brown that I worry will look very harsh and dark against the new living room color. I am at a loss on what to paint the room so that it will flow and make sense with the living space. We are already using a green shade in two rooms in the house, so I don't really want to go with a green. And I am not a big fan of red shades.
Does anyone have any ideas? Should I stick with a brown tone? I was thinking of keeping with the color card Nomadic Desert is on, and picking Hopsack or Latte, but worry about them being too dark for a smaller, galley space. We do plan to have the ceilings painted in their as well, and will probably go minus 75% tint of the wall color in the kitchen as well.
Thanks in advance.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
Thought about it, but H really seems to like the dark color in there now, but I really would like to lighten it up a bit because the space is much more closed in than the living area. And I hate that the whole house is going to end up beige, but it might be the best choice.
Thanks for the input.
It is very difficult to picture the khaki-greige combination that you have in the kitchen.
One possibility is to pick out an undertone in the granite or flooring.
Listening to your description, my first thought was coral. If you want a darker color, how about terracotta or coffee. I think these would complement the color that you picked for the living room.
