Shutterfly album for FIL?

With our photography package, we received one 12x12 wedding album (for us) and two 8x8 albums that are the exact same as ours, just smaller.

We planned originally to give one to my parents (who payed for almost everything for the wedding) and one to MIL.

We just got them in the mail yesterday and they are great, we really love them, but H said "should we order one for my Dad?" So now I emailed the photographer, and it's about $300 for an additional 8x8 album, which is insane, so I decided to try and re-create the wedding album on shutterfly.

I managed to get everything to look almost exact on shutterfly, but the only thing is, the pages will be much different. The pro albums are like a thick cardboard type of page, and the shutterfly ones are much thinner.

BUT, FIL won't ever see either of the other parent albums, maybe he'll see ours, but I doubt even if we told him the situation, that he'd care about the fact that we didn't shell out $300 for him to have the same parent albums as the others.

Thoughts??

Re: Shutterfly album for FIL?

  • I'm not so sure it even really matters. I did not order photo books from our photographer and made them on shutterfly. I maded one for my parents and one for ILs. They were pretty similar, but had different colors and different cover colors. My mom never saw ILs book and vicer versa, so no one knows really. I did go with the 12x12 size and a hardcover. The books came out beautifully and hopefully I will get done with ours soon. I would just order it and not tell him it's different.
  • I dont think its a difference espically for a man. They do not realize those types of things.

For xmas we doing parent albums on shutterfly but making them more about the family not just me and H. My parents are divorced/remarried so i got to make 3!

  • I agree with PPs.  I say get the shutterfly album for him and don't mention the other fancier ones that the other parents got.  He will appreciate the album and even if he had the chance to compare, I'm sure he wouldn't think twice about the paper it was printed on.

  • I don't think it would matter much. I wouldn't worry about it. I made ours 12x12 on Mixbook and when we show our parents I will gauge their reaction, then we might get them a copy, but in a smaller size if they seem to really like our album...

  • I agree with pp.  Your FIL won't even notice a difference.  I made one for my parents and just got an email saying it was shipped!  Yahooie!  I loved being able to add whatever pictures I wanted for their album.  I made it more family vs. just H and I.
  • go for it. We are making one on picaboo (with a coupon), and are waiting for coupons (on livingsocial they come up often) to make one for the parents and the inlaws. I don't think it matters if they are different.
