I have a fondant question

For my daughter's b'day party on Saturday I ordered fondant pinwheels to top her cake.  They arrived the other day and are currently stored in my pantry.  My question is once I put them on the cake how long will it take for them to soften up?  I am planning to bake the cake Friday night.  Should I frost and put the pinwheels on then or wait until Saturday?  The party is at 3pm so cake wouldn't be until 4ish.  Thanks!

Re: I have a fondant question

  • Are they fondant or gumpaste? Will they be sticking upright on the cake? They should be fine... it just depends on the fondant/gumpaste ratio and the climate. Since we don't know that I would just place them on before the party.  If they are laying flat on the cake they will be fine regardless...
