Is Travertine out? Backsplash ordered...

Just selected 4" travertine tiles with small glass inset and am now worried that travertine is dated...has been dated. Thoughts?

 I have honey-ish colored cabinets and uba tuba granite - very builder basic.

Was going to do a mixture of the long, thin glass mosaic and subway tiles (stone), but DH didn't like the glass...

I personally think it's dated. Looks early 2000's ish. New kitchens are now going more the way of subway tile and/or colored glass.

So unsure what to do.  I like subway tiles in photos, but don't think it would work in my home.  Glass...it would have to be mixed with something else.

I don't much care for the subway tile backsplashes.  It reminds me of 1950s kitchen decor, or more like a commercial kitchen.  The travertine example you posted seems more classic and long lasting.  But everything becomes dated at some point.
